ALTBalaji and ZEE5 have just dropped the first trailer of their eagerly anticipated web show, Class of 2020, and it is, in one word, ‘smoking hot’!
The entire 3-minute run time of the trailer is devoted to sex — and lots of it. Apparently, the class of 2020 has nothing on its mind besides making out and exploring the wonders of the bodies of the opposite sex.
None of the characters shown on screen is pious and pure. Every character has elements of grey in his/her personality, making each eminently relatable to the millennial generation. Class of 2020 certainly appears to be a show crafted to cater to the cagey, edgy taste of gen-next.
Amidst the rampage of carnal fulfilment and jealous catfights is hidden a disturbing scene – one of the characters is shown to commit suicide by hanging – we don’t know which. The scene appears all of a sudden out of the blue, and lingers in the mind’s eye much after the trailer is over, overriding the heavy lovemaking scenes and the cuss words–laden catfights.
The frames are evocatively shot, and the premise is provocative, to say the least. Each actor gets a good amount of screen time, but Rohan Mehra, Chetna Pandey, Alam Khan, Nibedita Das get prime billing. Jatin Suri, Palak Singh, Isha Chawlaa, Joyita Chatterjee, Shivam Babbar, Mazhar Khan, Prakruti Mishra Abhishek Rajan, Pallavi Mukherjee and Sushant Tanwar make up the rest of the bunch of youngsters.
Nausheen Ali Sardar, making her web debut with Class of 2020, makes several appearances in the trailer, not all of them really tasteful. She’s shown to be a single mom, preying on the young guy friends of her daughter.
All said and done, the trailer of Class of 2020 gives ample taste of what lies in store for viewers when the web series drops in the digital space – a plateful of sex, heartbreak, jealousy and catfights, along with a hefty dose of life lessons.
Class of 2020 is produced and directed by Vikas Gupta and his Lost Boy Productions. The series premieres on ALTBalaji and ZEE5 on 4th February 2020.
