Hotstar Specials, the Indian Originals arm of Disney Plus Hotstar, is getting ready to release the new season of its well received Hindi web series, Criminal Justice. The new season of the show is titled Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors. Disney Plus Hotstar launched the trailer of the new season this afternoon. And by the looks of it, the spotlight is firmly on Pankaj Tripathi and his Madhav Mishra.
Actress Shilpa Shukla makes an entry in Criminal Justice S2. Her role hasn’t been defined in the trailer though. Viewers will remember Shilpa Shukla from her hit movie, Chak De India, where she had played the captain of the Women’s Hockey team that was coached by Shah Rukh Khan.
Mita Vashist returns in Criminal Justice Season 2 to reprise her role of the powerful defense lawyer, Mandira Mathur. Anupriya Goenka is also reprising her role of lawyer Nikhat Hussain. She brings the same earnestness to her character as she did in season 1. The case in question has Kirti Kulhari in the docks. She plays, Anuradha Chandra, who’s been charged with stabbing her husband to death. Pankaj Tripathi’s Madhav Mishra takes on the task of defending Kirti Kulhari’s character. He had been stellar in Criminal Justice S1, where he had proved the innocence of Vikrant Massey’s character.
Criminal Justice Season 2 also sees the entry of Jishhu Sengupta, as the public prosecutor in Anuradha Chandra’s case. We catch a glimpse of veteran actress Deepti Naval too in the trailer, but her role too is undefined. The new season of Criminal Justice Behind Closed Doors looks enigmatic and mysterious, along with being super interesting. It looks like a show worth waiting for!
Criminal Justice Season 1 was directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Furia, their place is taken by Rohan Sippy and Arjun Mukherjee in the new season. Criminal Justice is produced by Applause Entertainment, part of the Aditya Birla Group Of Companies.
Criminal Justice Season 2 premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar on 24th December 2020.
