The trailer for Emraan Hashmi starrer “Harami”, India’s official selection in the “New Currents” main competition category at 25th Busan International Film Festival 2020, just came in and this one is a real deal that will pluck just the right strings of your heart.
The official synopsis of the film reads, “Harami is a hard-hitting, visually striking street saga of youth crime and broken destinies, love and redemption, played out against the violent backdrop of chaotic and relentless Mumbai.”
The trailer begins with a poor teenager in rugged condition reciting names out of an ID proof, while the other reminds him that they are just known by numbers that is assigned by their employer. These boys are orphan, teenaged pickpockets who steal wallets and valuables on the platform and in the local trains of Mumbai.
The story further follows “Pachpan” (55) who embarks on a life altering journey when faced by the daughter of one of his victims who’s committed suicide after being robbed. While he is afraid of his English-speaking employer, Sagar Bhai, who has strict horrendous rules for those who betray him or break his rules, he still wants to follow this new found path of love and correct the wrong he committed.
“Harami” is an Indo-American film written and directed by Shyam Madiraju and features Emraan Hashmi, Rizwan Sheikh, Danshree Patil, Harsh Rajendra Rane, Ashutosh Gaikwad, Machindra Gadkar, Sarthak Dusane, Manish Mishra, Yash Kamble, Durgesh Gupta, Aditya Bhagat, Starr Liu, Dikhsa Nisha and Adil Khan.
The film has been produced by Brent Maddock, Pravesh Singh Rajput, Dori Zuckerman, Gavin Lurie and Mohit Rastogi. “Harami” will premiere at the 25th BIFF that will take place from 21st – 30th October, 2020.
