Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath starrer Maara is the latest Tamil film that is going to skip its theatrical release and stream directly online. The movie which is the remake of Malayalam blockbuster, Charlie is all set to be premiered on January 8th, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video. The trailer of the film is out now.
Maara seems to be a faithful remake of Charlie (2015). The locales, the story, the drawing book, and even the costumes of the lead pair look authentic and exactly the same as the Original. The background score is also soothing and compliments the feel of the story. The makers did not try to hide any story or twists in the trailer everything is obvious.
However, one can not be sure if the magic of Charlie can be recreated. The doubt will be big if one watched the original. It is tough to see Madhavan in the role of Dulquer Salman. He looks so bulky as well in the movie. There is a tinge of awkwardness in his body language while Dulquer is so agile. Shraddha Srinath seems okay. It is not always right to compare an original and its remake especially for a movie that had a long impact like Charlie. But then, it is an imminent curse for all remake films. There are instances where remakes succeed in their own way even though they could not recreate the magic of the original. Let us see if Maara can impress the audience who did not watch the film! For that, we will have to wait until the movie releases.
