What happens when a badass taxi driver, a sinister drug lord, an African footballer and a crazy goof-up come together in Kolkata? A refreshing comedy of errors called Tiki-Taka! The ZEE5 original movie will premiere on ZEE5 Premium on 11th September, and from the looks of the trailer that dropped today, it seems like a breezy feel-good watch.
For those not in the know, Tiki-Taka is an intense style of play in football, and it does make a cool name for a movie with football as the centrepiece. The trailer introduces us to the main characters – Parambrata Chattopadhyay as Raju the taxi driver, Emona Enabulu as the African footballer Khelechi Aagjubi, Ritabhari Chakraborty as Bonnie and Saswata Chatterjee as the PK, the drug lord.
We get glimpses of the humour in Tiki-Taka, and love that it is replete with old-world charm, the kind we enjoyed watching back in the good ol’ eighties and nineties. The premise of the movie too seems interesting. Everyone wants a piece of renowned footballer Khelechi in football-crazy Kolkata. Parambrata Chattopadhyay is cute as the bindaas taxi driver. Saswata Chatterjee impresses with his pan-chewing drug lord act, and African actor Emona Enabulu catches the eye.
Tiki-Taka has been adapted from the Bengali original film ‘Khelechi Ajguba’. Khelechi is a footballer who has come to Bengal from his hometown in Africa to meet PK. A comedy of errors results in PK’s men picking up the wrong man from the airport, and Khelechi landing up with Raju. The football is the centrepiece in the movie, but we won’t reveal how. Watch the movie to find out the fun that awaits.
Tiki-Taka is directed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay, is written by Rohan Ghose and Shouvik Banerjee, and stars Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Emona Enabulu and Saswata Chatterjee in pivotal roles.
Tiki-Taka premieres on 11th September on ZEE5. Have a glimpse at the trailer of the upcoming movie –
