Zee5 has dropped in the trailer for its upcoming dark comedy thriller series ‘Black Widows’ and to say that the women in it are mysteriously savage wouldn’t be an understatement. An Indian version of the Finnish drama of the same name, ‘Black Widows’ will launch on Zee5 on 18th December, 2020.
Three women, Veera (Mona Singh), Jayati (Swastika Mukherjee) and Kavita (Shamita Shetty), who happen to be best friends, are each going through troubled marriages with abusive and unloving husbands. They have had it enough and all they want now is freedom to live their lives as they wish. And for that they have a plan.
They go on a vacation with their husbands, Nilesh, Lalit and Jatin, where they bring their plan into action, which is, blowing their husbands on a boat in the middle of a lake. While for the world they have become widows now and pretend to be upset with the death of their husbands, deep within they are damn happy with this newfound freedom and even go on to explore new relationships.
But wait, if you thought its gonna be that easy for them then you are in the wrong. Pankaj Mishra (Parambrata Chattopadhyay), a dedicated cop is hell bent on finding the truth behind the murder of the three men as he carries out a thorough investigation. But that’s not the only trouble for these ladies, their murder plan did not work as well as they thought it did and one of the husbands has survived and you bet he has returned to seek revenge!
What follows is a thrilling sequence of events with blasts, pretence, lies, unraveling of secrets, chase and much more. We also get a glimpse of Innaya Thakur (Raima Sen), a powerful woman who is seen making a deal with Jayati. Towards the end of the trailer it becomes clear that one of the three had survived the blast and he will not stay quiet.
Set in picturesque locations, Zee5’s ‘Black Widows’ is the eighth international remake of the Finnish drama of the same name and has been directed by Birsa Dasgupta and produced by Big Synergy Media Ltd. Zee5 and Big Synergy Media have a two season deal with NENT Studios UK for the Indian version of ‘Black Widows’.
