True Detective has always rocked television, though it managed to stumble in the second season; the first and third seasons were really strong, even achieving classic status. But the newest installment, Night Country, is cooking up something special.
Previously, the series managed to achieve some astronomical statistics, as evidenced by the numbers from the finale.
This past Sunday night, the finale garnered a viewership of 3.2 million, solely in the USA on Max and HBO. Looking at the entirety of the series, every episode managed to reach an average viewership of 12.7 million, setting a record for the series, even surpassing the first season.
And the records will only go higher as the finale draws in more viewers in the upcoming days.
This show is remarkable on several fundamental levels; it’s the first time the series has focused on female leads, unlike the previous seasons. There is also amazing chemistry between Jodie Foster and Kali Reis. Even though the storyline was paired with bad IMDb ratings, the experience says otherwise.
One of the major reasons behind the mediocre ratings might be people’s nostalgia for the first season. However, the reviews, for the most part, shed a positive light.
It is currently streaming on JioCinema, but they have shown zero to no interest in advertising it. Just a couple of tweets from their side won’t really boost viewership.
