A section of the Telugu film industry has been strictly opposing the Direct-to-OTT release. But then, Nani‘s Tuck Jagadish producers still opted for one and cut a deal with Amazon Prime Video. While the trade has no objections to the OTT release, the issue here is the Clash with a Theatrical Release of Naga Chaitanya’s Love Story which is trying to help Box Office flourish.
Love Story is announced for September 10th release in theaters. Even though the official announcement did not come, Tuck Jagadish is also being planned for the same day’s release. The trade is keen on getting Tuck Jagadish postponed to a later date.
Tuck Jagadish producers, Shine Screens released a statement explaining the situations that forced them to opt for a Direct-to-OTT release. They explained how the decision has been taken in uncertain times and requested everyone to understand and co-operate in these uncertain times. However, the statement did not have a mention the contentious issue of the release date.
Probably, they have indicated that it is not a decision that they can make at this stage given that the agreement is signed. Probably, we may see Love Story getting postponed if Amazon Prime Video announces Tuck Jagadish on September 10th.
