One great thing about horror is that it keeps you guessing; the uncertainty is the very essence of the genre. But what if that uncertainty shrouds the entire future of something? Then you get Tumbbad—a film that was highly anticipated by fans who were eager to watch it in theaters.
Realistically speaking, the audience was ready. They’re familiar with experimental content, and Tumbbad would have likely been successful in its recent run. Even Gangs of Wasseypur was set to be its arch-nemesis, but the limited screens for Gangs of Wasseypur wouldn’t have really hurt Tumbbad.
But now, the creators are introducing new problems for their own creation. Sounds like a god problem?
Tumbbad is hanging in uncertainty.
According to the last updates, it was supposed to release on August 30th, but there’s a big question mark: where can fans book tickets? And it’s a question that currently has no answer, as even BookMyShow isn’t selling tickets yet, which is definitely a big problem.
To begin with, there hasn’t been an official update from the makers confirming the re-release. But since most news portals reported it, it seemed like the right thing to do. However, with ticket sales starting so late and almost no advertisements, fans are becoming unsure about their weekend plans for Tumbbad.
The only real clue about the re-release is a post from Sohum Shah on Instagram, which is basically a snippet from the film. Though it doesn’t confirm the release, it did keep the conversation going. But as of now, Tumbbad is fading into uncertainty, and the fans need a solid update.
If Tumbbad stumbles this time, it will have a tough road ahead for future re-releases. August 30th is just one sunset away, and if the makers don’t rekindle the excitement, Tumbbad will face a major eclipse.
