Glen Powell is definitely the new face in the entertainment industry after his great success in “Anyone But You” alongside Sydney Sweeney. This success won’t put a stop to his journey, as more exciting projects are waiting for him, including one on Netflix.
One of his most exciting projects will be WB’s “Twisters,” and as the name suggests, one might build a link between this new version and the 1996 film. And, on paper, you won’t be wrong.
Director Powell clarified that the upcoming “Twisters” movie is not a reboot, sequel, or remake of the original 1996 film. Describing it as a standalone story set in the modern day, Powell emphasized the absence of original characters.
The film aims to deliver a completely original experience, distinct from the iconic predecessor, while acknowledging the nostalgic impact the original had on viewers.
“Twisters,” directed by Lee Isaac Chung and featuring stars like Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos, faced production pauses but is set for a 2024 release. The plot remains undisclosed for this anticipated follow-up to the 1996 blockbuster.
The original “Twister,” directed by Jan De Bont, grossed nearly $500 million, earning Oscar nods. The 2024 installment, distinct from Helen Hunt’s rejected sequel idea, promises a fresh perspective with new talent contributing to the storm-chasing legacy.
