Amazon Prime Video seems to have found its magic formula in India, and it’s not a fancy new movie or web series. It’s reality TV. Their latest reality show The Traitors turned into a massive hit and caught everyone by surprise. The show was hosted by Karan Johar and featured many familiar faces from Indian television and social media. People quickly compared it to Bigg Boss, but what made The Traitors stand out was that nothing was scripted. Every bit of drama felt real in a dramatic way. This success comes after their decent attempt last year with the reality talk show called The Rana Daggubati Show. But the huge popularity of The Traitors has made it clear that Indian viewers are ready for unscripted reality shows on streaming platforms full of drama featuring their favourite personalities. Prime Video seems to have caught on and is now fully investing in this space.
Their next big reality show is already in the works. It’s called Too Much and will be hosted by Bollywood stars Kajol and Twinkle Khanna. The show promises to be a star-studded affair with lots of candid and fun and maybe spicy conversations between India’s top celebrities. With big names, big budgets, and a growing interest in reality content, Prime Video looks ready to become the go-to place for Indian reality shows. This will be a direct competition to Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan, especially coming from his favourite Kajol.
