Universal Studios is clearly leaving no stone unturned in promoting Despicable Me 4, which is scheduled to hit theaters globally on July 3. As one of Universal’s biggest theatrical releases this year, the animated sequel from Illumination is getting a unique promotional push.
As part of their creative and eye-catching promotional campaign for Despicable Me 4, Universal has draped Gru’s iconic black-and-grey scarf across numerous historical monuments and tourist places around the world. Believe it or not, you can see photos on Twitter! Check out the following tweets and see for yourself.

As you can see, Gru’s scarf has appeared on London’s Tower Bridge, New York’s Statue of Liberty, Sydney Harbour Bridge, and Rio de Janeiro’s Sugarloaf Mountain. This is not the first time Universal Studios has used creative promotional strategies for Despicable Me movies. For instance, the studio launched the “Minion Mayhem” rides in its theme parks just before the release of Despicable Me 2 (2013).
Not just the studio, but the fans also love the animated franchise. Do you guys remember the #gentleminions trend that went viral on TikTok in 2022 before the release of Minions: The Rise of Gru? God, that was something special!
Despicable Me 4 stars Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Joey King, Miranda Cosgrove, Sofia Vergara, Steve Coogan, Stephen Colbert, Chris Renaud, Will Ferrell, Chloe Fineman, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
