Horror and thriller movies seem to be all the rage right now. So far, the year has witnessed record-breaking horror and thriller tales like ‘The First Omen’, ‘MaXXXine’, ‘Abigail’, ‘Shaitaan’, ‘Murder Mubarak’, ‘Aranmanai 4′, and many more.
Riding the high of these keep-them-on-the-edge-of-their-seats titles is new genre label Badlands’ upcoming horror-thriller ‘Unnie’. Director Hong Won-ki, who is no stranger to blending K-pop with horror, has been tapped for the intense project, based against the backdrop of the competitive K-pop world. Wong-ki has previously helmed renowned titles like ‘Goedam’ and ‘Zombie Hunter’.
While not a lot of details about the intriguing upcoming feature have been made public yet, ‘Unnie’ is being described as a film that follows along the lines of ‘Black Swan’, the critically lauded cult favorite that won American actress Natalie Portman an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
That being said, it is a no-brainer that the film will blend aspects of cutthroat competition and crazed ambition in the current popular culture scenario. Moreover, ‘Unnie’ is not the only film en route to blending these themes on the big screen.
M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Trap’ and Parker Finn’s ‘Smile 2’ are also all set to target pop music stars and concert venues to bring the best of both worlds to our screens!
