It is undeniably the era of social media and mass influencing. At the intersection of both is a paradox: you’re either loved or not. There is no in-between. Traversing the tumultuous terrains of social media influencing is Indian TV personality Uorfi Javed. Known for her quirky fashion sense and social media presence, Javed has made the headlines quite a few times.
Most recently, she appeared on the news for having launched her own reality TV show, ‘Follow Kar Lo Yaar.’ The Prime Video series, streaming exclusively on the platform from August 23, revolves around the dramatic life of the Internet sensation.
Featuring snippets of interviews with her family members, the show seems to follow a Keeping-Up-With-The-Kardashian’s format as the dynamics of her crazy, crazy family are brought to the screen. Starring a few other famous personalities, the trailer follows her journey to accomplishing her goal of establishing a unicorn business.
Although the trailer has been backed by invigoratingly upbeat music, it does not do a good job at masking the mixed reviews it has been released to. A majority of the viewers have earmarked the trailer (and the show) as a poor marketing gimmick, especially considering how it seems to dismiss “more hard-working individuals with even better talents”.
Whether or not this common opinion quantifies to something will be proven by the viewing statistics of the show only. To find out more, stay tuned to this space!
