Just about a month ago, Kriti Sanon’s much-awaited film Mimi had leaked on torrent sites four days before its official premiere on Jio Cinema and Netflix. And now another straight to digital film set to premiere on Jio Cinema has suffered a similar fate as Mimi. Upcoming Malayalam film “Pidikittapulli” has been leaked online on torrent and pirated films sites one day before it was to release on Jio Cinema.
The Malayalam language film “Pidikittapulli” is slated for a direct to digital release on Jio Cinema on 27th August. But illegal downloads of the film are available online from this morning itself, indicating that there’s been a leak of the film through unknown sources.
The consequence of this is that now every torrent and pirated films site has the full movie available for download, and that too in HD print. A simple search for “Pidikittapulli” on Google leads to instant results of tons of sites offering “Pidikittapulli full movie download”. The film is also available for illegal streaming on Telegram.
Pidikittapulli is a black comedy film, directed by Jishnu Sreekandan, and produced by Sri Gokulam Films. It stars Sunny Wayne and Ahaana Krishna in lead roles.
Piracy is a widespread problem in India, much more prevalent here than in other countries. And a solution is nowhere to be seen. The claims of harsher consequences on piracy don’t seem to be budging piracy websites to a great extent. Maybe, if citizens join hands against piracy and not download such movies, it may get such websites to run out of business. Content leaks and piracy are abominable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
