Vijay is blessed with a mammoth fan following in India. He is one of those rare existing stars whose face value means more than anything else to his fans. Due to this reason, he has great and commercially successful filmography. But the case with OTT is different.
Only those films get recognized on OTT that has something different and new to offer. The recent backlash of Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh’s Cirkus is another stamp on this statement.
Regardless, Varisu falls into a similar category. The reviews of the film were negative right from the beginning. Varisu is strictly an average film with an outdated story and pathetic execution. The film looks as if it was made for the audience of the 90s or the 2000s. But with unlimited exposure to great cinema, the audience doesn’t like to watch a film that has shallow characters and an immature storyline.
Varisu fell victim to the same thought process. This has certainly hampered the views it could earn from Prime Video. This is quite evident in some reliable third-party websites that monitor views of titles on different OTT platforms.
But it doesn’t matter much to the makers of the film as Varisu is already a big success in the theaters.
Varisu/Varasudu gives the feel of an outdated daily TV serial, with out a soul. The issue is we don't feel for the family or their bonding in this family drama. Everything appears artificial and forced. A mishmash of many telugu family dramas!#VarisuOnPrime #Varisu #Varasudu

@directorvamshi @DilRajuOfficial @actorvijay @iamRashmika One of the Most Predictable, illogical,Boring Movie I have ever seen in Recent times is #varisu.OMG how come an actor like Vijay Accepted the Movie!???? Maybe the director thought Audiences are still in early 2000s.

#varisu seemed somewhat interesting in the beginning but it got boring & boring as the movie went further. No emotional connect except for few scenes between Vijay & mom. Too much of green screen. Sarath Kumar face was very stiff in most of the scenes. Characters poorly written.
