Naga Shaurya pinned high hopes on his recent theatrical outing Varudu Kavalenu which carried reasonably good buzz. But the film couldn’t rake up the moolah at the box office and it disappeared without a trace, despite decent reviews. It ended up as a box office dud. Now, the film is said to be gearing up for its OTT premieres.
As per reports, Varudu Kavalenu will be made available for streaming on ZEE5 from the 24th of December. If that really is the case, ZEE5, for some strange reason, hasn’t started promoting the film’s arrival yet for reasons best known to them.
Varudu Kavalenu has a family-oriented theme and it might well strike a chord with the Telugu OTT audience. But as it appears, the film is silently arriving on OTT. While ZEE5 had, and has been promoting a dud like Sai Dharam Tej’s Republic all the while, one can only wonder why the OTT platform isn’t focusing on an okayish film like Varudu Kavalenu.
That said, ZEE5 is yet to announce if the Naga Shaurya and Ritu Varma starrer will actually premiere on the platform on the 24th of December.
Varudu Kavalenu is a family drama directed by debutante Lakshmi Sowjanya. The film mostly struggles due to the formulaic storyline and patchy narrative. Ritu plays a dynamic role in the film while Shaurya is confined to a typical boy next door role.
