Suresh Productions have released their Narappa starring Victory Venkatesh directly on Amazon Prime Video. There were reports that their other films – Venkatesh‘s Drushyam 2 and Rana Daggubati‘s Virataparvam will also take the same route but there is no official announcement yet. There are rumors that Suresh Babu is rethinking and may release Drushyam 2 in theaters.
“All the theaters under Suresh Babu’s lease are opening this week with Orey Bammardhi and Paagal. If the rates issue in Andhra Pradesh is resolved by this month-end, there are chances of Drushyam 2 arriving in theaters on September 10th as Vinayaka Chaviti Special. We will have to wait for the official confirmation,” the source said.
Leading OTT Platform, Disney+Hotstar has made a fancy offer for Drushyam 2 Direct-to-OTT rights but the dotted line is yet to be signed which keeps all options open for the producers. Drushyam 2 is the official remake of the Malayalam blockbuster, Drishyam 2 starring Mohanlal. The movie also skipped its theatrical release and was released directly on Amazon Prime Video. Jeethu Joseph who directed the Original has directed the Telugu version as well. Drushyam 2 has been completed in less than 50 working days and on a shoestring budget.
