It was only yesterday’s news when it was announced that Gulzar Saab will be back as lyricist along with his long time partner Vishal Bhardwaj for Alia Bhatt starrer Darlings. The news stirred the industry and made ‘Darlings’ a movie worth waiting for. Now another veteran is staging his comeback and he is none other than the legendary Javed Akhtar. After 15 years, Javed Akhtar will be seen penning the script for a new movie which will be backed by none other than his son Farhan Akhtar on behalf of his Excel Entertainment.
Javed Akhtar is known for his cult classic movies with his partner Salim Khan. The duo’s gallery includes – Zanjeer, Deewar, Don, Sholay, Haathi Mere Saathi and many others. Javed Akhtar started working independently and wrote movies like Lakshya, Mashaal, and Don (2006) before solely working as lyricist. Now after a big gap of 15 years, Akhtar has finally found a script which he desires to share with the whole world.
Reports suggest that the script for the movie is locked and the makers are fiddling with the choices for the cast. The makers are planning to move the film onto the floors by the end of this year with a big star. This movie will mark the 40th movie in Javed Akhtar’s career while it will also be one of the most prestigious projects of the production house (Excel Entertainment).
It is heartening to see the veterans coming back to doing what they do best. And with the era of remakes and remixes, the comeback of personalities like Gulzar saab and Javed Akhtar is nothing short of a blessing in disguise. Nothing official has been announced as of yet but stay tuned for more!
