The Dharma Productions film will release directly on streaming behemoth, Disney Plus Hotstar. The news of ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ direct OTT release has been circulating on social media since several months. Disney Plus Hotstar has now confirmed the news with a hilarious video titled ‘#FunVicky’. The announcement video takes constant digs at Vicky Kaushal’s filmography up till now – biopics, war films and other serious stuff. Vicky Kaushal’s viral dialogue from his debut film Masaan — “Yeh dukh khatam kahe nahi hota” — is a running joke in the video, taking a jibe at the largely sad roles Vicky Kaushal has essayed until now. Karan Johar promises a 180-degree turn to Vicky Kaushal in the role of ‘Govinda’ for ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ – a new, improved #FunVicky version of Vicky Kaushal. That, or a part in ‘Student Of The Year 3’, says Karan to Vicky.

There’s no date reveal for when ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar. The streaming platform might want to save the fun comic caper for a Christmas release. It’s worth remembering that Disney Plus Hotstar also has Kartik Aaryan starrer ‘Freddy’ in its kitty for December.
‘Govinda Naam Mera’ stars Vicky Kaushal, along with Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani in pivotal roles. The film is directed by by Shashank Khaitan. It is Vicky Kaushal’s first film for Dharma Productions. Viacom 18 Studios is co-producer on ‘Govinda Naam Mera’.
