Raj & DK’s upcoming web television series ‘Sunny’ on Amazon Prime Video has got the fans excited for numerous reasons. First and foremost being that the show will be directed by the hit duo Raj & DK whose previous works include ‘Go Goa Gone’ and ‘The Family Man’. Secondly the starcast of the movie which is going to be a treat for the eyes. ‘Sunny’ stars Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Rashi Khanna in the leads. Sunny will be Shahid’s digital debut and owing to the popularity of the stars, both the lead actors have demanded a huge sum of payment for the action entertainer series, and Amazon also has agreed to it.
Everything is going the way of ‘Sunny’ as of now. Reportedly when the show was brought to the streaming giant by the director duo, the platform welcomed it with open arms as their previous show ‘The Family Man’ has brought them so much of profit. And with that, Prime Video asked the makers to increase the budget of the show to make it more grand in terms of scale.
Now seeing the popularity of the directors, the show was already set to become another feather in the cap for Prime Video India. Add to it the fan following of the lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi it just becomes a blockbuster.
Reportedly, both the lead actors have asked for a truckload of money for the actioner. Shahid Kapoor who has been on another level of success due to his ‘Kabir Singh’ has asked for more than ₹40 crore for the first season of ‘Sunny’. Also, he has signed a contract which mentions a hike in his remuneration if the show is picked up for a second season.
On the other hand ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi straight up demanded for a sum around ₹55 crores from the streaming giant. His contract doesn’t demand for a hike if the show goes to a potential second season as of now. This means that Vijay Sethupathi is getting paid more than Shahid Kapoor for Sunny!!
Seeing the fan following of both the actors at the current times, Amazon Prime Video has shelled out big amounts to get both the actors on board!
