We have often heard of several films being shelved before they release. Many films hit the back-burner before Lights, Camera and action hit them. Rarest of the rare cases are when films dont just release even after shooting and post production is done. Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Idam Porul Yaeval‘ is one such film. This unreleased Tamil language drama film will hit the theatres sooner than we know.
Directed by Seenu Ramasamy who has now made quality films like Thenmerku Paravakaatru, Neerparavai, Dharma Durai, Kanne Kalaimaane and the latest Maamanithan (2022), Idam Porul Yaeval has been in the shelf for around 8 years. Produced by director N Lingusamy, the film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Vishnu Vijay, Aishwarya Rajesh and Nandita Swetha in lead roles. The film over the course of its announcement to release has undergone several casting changes besides changes in music, cinematography etc. The film is based on S Ramakrishnan’s story and Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music. The film that should’ve seen the theatres in 2014 itself owing to extreme financial difficulties faced by the producers, will finally release now.
When quipped about the long pending release of his film, Director Seenu Ramasamy was quoted saying: “The legalities have been cleared, and the makers will take a call on whether to release it in theatres or on OTT. The court itself has come forward to see to it that the film releases soon.”
The latest news is that the High Court intervened and granted permission to release the film. Idam Porul Yeaval is a drama about two young men from different walks of life whose paths cross at one point in time. An official release date is however not locked yet. Stay tuned for more updates!
