It’s another direct digital premiere for a malayalam film. After Malayan Kunju makers turned down the offer of direct digital release on Amazon Prime Video, here is another official OTT release news on Fahadh Faasil’s Vikram co-star Vijay Sethupathi. Upcoming Malayalam language socio-political drama ” 19(1)(a) ” starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen in lead roles will directly head for an OTT release on Disney+Hotstar.
While details regarding the plot of the movie is still unknown, the film looks like a take on Freedom of Speech and Expression, the fundamental right guaranteed by Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution from its title. The first look poster of the film was dropped some time ago and it looked quite intriguing with half-portraits of both Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen merged together.
19(1)(a) is written and directed by debutant Indhu V.S who earlier worked with National Award-winning filmmaker Salim Ahamed in films like Kunjananthante Kada, Aaminte Makan Abu and Pathemari. The film marks Vijay Sethupathi’s debut in a lead role in Malayalam Cinema. Besides Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen, the film also features Indrajith Sukumaran and Indrans in prominent roles. 19(1)(a) is Bank-rolled by Anto Joseph Film Company. Govind Vasantha composed the music while Manesh Madhavan headed cinematography department. Although the movie was wrapped early 2021 it was weighing options for theatrical and digital releases simultaneously until the team weighed in for a Disney+Hotstar release.
