Vikings: Valhalla proved to be a success for streaming giant Netflix when it first debuted on the streamer in February 2022. Now, the new season of the medieval drama is all set to release on Netflix, less than a year after the release of Vikings: Valhalla Season 1. Netflix has just revealed the release date for Vikings: Valhalla Season 2, along with several first look pictures. The new season of the series will premiere on Netflix on January 12.
For those who don’t know, Vikings: Valhalla is a spinoff series of the popular Netflix show, ‘Vikings’. The narrative in Vikings: Valhalla is set one hundred years after the events of Vikings. The show is created by Jeb Stuart, and co-developed by Michael Hirst, creator of the parent show, ‘Vikings’. Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 begins in the early 11th century, and documents the swashbuckling adventures of legendary Vikings, Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), the most famous Viking in history, Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), and others. Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 will explore the medieval world far beyond Scandinavia and Northern Europe. The season will mark the start of the end of the Vikings. Vikings: Valhalla has been renewed for two seasons, which means Vikings: Valhalla Season 3 is also a given.
Returning cast in Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 includes Bradley Freegard (King Canute), Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Olaf Haraldsson), Laura Berlin (Emma of Normandy), David Oakes (Earl of Godwin), Pollyanna McIntosh (Queen Ælfgifu) and Soren Pilmark (Sweyn Forkbeard). New cast members include Bradley James (Harekr), Marcin Dorocinski (King Yaroslav the Wise), Sofya Lebedeva (Elena), Hayat Kamille (Mariam), among others.
Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 will consist of eight episodes, just like the debut season of the show. All eight episodes of the series premiere on Netflix worldwide on January 12, 2023.
