Vikram and Major Soar High, Samrat Prithviraj Stumbles At Box Office

It seems like no other movie can stop the historic run of Kamal Haasan‘s Vikram. The latest Lokesh Kanagaraj’s project has collected nearly 150 crores globally within the first three days of its theatrical release. It has even minted more than 100 crores domestically. As per various reports, it has become the biggest blockbuster in Haasan’s career. Apart from the leading man, Vijay Sethupati and Fahadh Faasil are also playing important roles in the film. Additionally, Suriya has a cameo in this one.

Adivi Sesh‘s Major has also performed decently in Indian markets and has raked in 35.60 crores in its opening weekend. The official Twitter page of the movie shared this fantastic news on Monday with the hashtag #IndiaLovesMajor. The movie tells the story of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s valour and sacrifice in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai (2008). In addition to Sesh, the rest of the cast has Saiee Manjrekar, Revathi, Prakash Raj, Sobhita Dhulipala, Murali Sharma, and many more.

The incredible box office performances of both Vikram and Major have started affecting Akshay Kumar‘s Samrat Prithviraj. Several pundits predicted that Kumar’s historical drama might not survive against Vikram and Major. And that’s exactly what is happening. The latest YRF project needs to perform way better than its current state to cover up its 250-crore budget. But the lacklustre critical and public reception will make things hard for the film. It suffered from a horrible opening weekend, collecting only 39 crores approx. In addition to being YRF’s most expensive project, Samrat Prithviraj is also Manushi Chillar‘s debut Bollywood movie.

Samrat Prithviraj has collected good figures in north India, especially in UP, MP, Bihar, and Rajasthan. However, it has suffered a complete washout in south Indian territories. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram is roaring at the box office. Also, Major has exceeded all expectations and is inching slowly towards the 100-crore club. Stay tuned for more updates.
