‘Vikram Vedha’ OTT Verdict Is Out: Hit, Miss Or Superhit?

‘Vikram Vedha’ OTT Verdict Is Out: Hit, Miss Or Superhit?

The months-long wait is finally over now. As you all know, the Hindi version of the neo-noir action thriller movie ‘Vikram Vedha’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan is now streaming for free on the JioCinema OTT platform. Notwithstanding some complaints about the audio quality and subtitle issues with ‘Vikram Vedha’, it’s the perfect time to catch the film for those who had missed watching it in theatres.

Following its theatrical release, ‘Vikram Vedha’ garnered positive feedback from critics and was admired by a huge segment of audiences as well. But despite being a well-crafted film, ‘Vikram Vedha’ still failed to attract movie goers in big numbers.

So, the question is: Has ‘Vikram Vedha’ got the recognition and love on OTT which it didn’t at the time of its theatrical release? Let’s find out.

As per the early response by fans and movie buffs on Twitter, ‘Vikram Vedha’ is mostly receiving positive, rather terrific feedback. Cinephiles are particularly praising the performance of Hrithik Roshan. Some fans are even of the opinion that the Hindi version of ‘Vikram Vedha’ is better than the original Tamil film which featured Vijay Sethupathi and R. Madhavan in the lead roles. However, that comparison is subjective.

One of the fans has said that there should be a sequel for ‘Vikram Vedha’ with Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan reprising their respective roles. Barring just a few negative reactions, overall, the streaming audiences so far have given a big thumbs up to ‘Vikram Vedha’.

Having said that, the Hindi film industry and movie enthusiasts are once again perplexed about how a well-crafted film like ‘Vikram Vedha’ did not perform well at the theatres in spite of positive reviews and with no dearth of star power. Because the same audience who have now watched the movie on OTT have all good things to say about the film. Why didn’t they watch it in theatres?

Now, let’s see how ‘Vikram Vedha’ is received by OTT audiences in the longer run on JioCinema. Until now, the verdict is absolutely in the favour of ‘Vikram Vedha’, and it looks like its OTT release has ‘Superhit’ stamped all over it. Check out some of the initial responses from fans and movie lovers below.

Helmed by the husband-wife writer-director duo Pushkar-Gayathri, the film’s plot revolves around an upright cop Vikram (Saif Ali Khan) and a dreaded gangster Vedha (Hrithik Roshan). After Vedha voluntarily surrenders himself, the goings-on take an interesting turn when he begins to play mind games with Vikram by narrating different stories that makes the cop rethink about the concept of good and evil.
