Globally renowned movies database entertainment portal IMDb houses a list/widget of the most anticipated new Indian movies and shows (both theatrical and OTT) that ascertains the real-time popularity of that title. This is determined by the number of pageviews these titles are generating on IMDb. Each title is then ranked by IMDb as per the aggregate number of pageviews.
As far as today’s Indian films and series are concerned, the most anticipated title on IMDb is Mani Ratnam’s period epic film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel of the same name. The movie features an ensemble cast that includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Prakash Raj, amongst others.
The second buzziest title on IMDb as of now is Pushkar-Gayathri’s ‘Vikram Vedha’ Hindi remake. The neo-noir action thriller revolves around the two titular characters – a tough and upright police officer Vikram (Saif Ali Khan) and a dreaded gangster Vedha (Hrithik Roshan).
And the third most anticipated Indian title on IMDb is Anudeep KV’s bilingual drama ‘Prince’ featuring Sivakarthikeyan alongside Ukrainian actor Maria Ryaboshapka in the lead roles.
And both ‘Vikram Vedha’, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ along with other theatrical releases have totally overshadowed upcoming Indian OTT titles such as ‘Atithi Bhooto Bhava’, ‘Babli Bouncer’, and ‘Jamtara Season-2’, amongst others. In fact, no Indian OTT movie or series has been able to make it to IMDb’s most anticipated Indian titles list.
