Ardent cinephiles might already be aware that the much-anticipated Hindi language remake of the widely acclaimed 2017 Tamil action thriller movie ‘Vikram Vedha’ is all set for its grand theatrical release on 30th September 2022. Like the parent film, the remake bearing the same name is also being helmed by the husband-wife writer-director duo Pushkar-Gayathri.
Since Vikram Vedha’s release is a little more than a month away, the makers have begun promoting the star-studded film featuring Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan alongside another gifted performer Saif Ali Khan. After a massive demand for a teaser/trailer for ‘Vikram Vedha’, the makers have finally launched the film’s first teaser.
‘Vikram Vedha’ teaser has the charisma of Hrithik Roshan stamped all over it and the teaser suggests that the ‘Super 30’ actor will be the centre of attraction in the upcoming film. Saif Ali Khan too looks uber cool and both these extremely talented lead actors seem to be in terrific form and their performances are bound to complement each other in the film. From what we have seen in the teaser, ‘Vikram Vedha’ promises to be an entertaining blockbuster and should give a much-needed box office respite to the Hindi film industry (after ‘Brahmastra’, hopefully).
Inspired by the immensely popular Indian folktale Vikram-Betaal, the parent film ‘Vikram Vedha’ revolves around the two titular characters – a tough and upright police officer Vikram (originally essayed by Madhavan) and a dreaded gangster Vedha (played by Vijay Sethupathi). The story starts off with Vedha voluntarily surrendering himself to the cops. The goings-on take an interesting turn when Vedha begins to play mind games with Vikram by narrating three different stories that makes the cop rethink the concept of good and evil.
In the ‘Vikram Vedha’ Hindi remake, Hrithik Roshan has stepped into the shoes of the gangster Vedha while Saif Ali Khan is portraying the role of the honest cop Vikram. Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan had previously shared screen space in the forgettable 2002 romantic drama movie ‘Na Tum Jaano Na Hum’. Interestingly, before Hrithik Roshan’s casting, Aamir Khan was approached to play Vedha but things didn’t work out after which Aamir Khan withdrew from the project. Shah Rukh Khan’s name too had cropped up before. Besides Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, the neo-noir action thriller also features Radhika Apte and Sharib Hashmi in important roles.
