Vikram’s First Look From Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ Is Here!

As promised during the weekend makers of Mani Ratnam’s dream project ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ aka ‘PS-1’ have begun the adventure filled week with Vikram’s first look from the film. ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ is all set to hit the theatres on 30th September, 2022 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.

Earlier in March this year the makers had released first look of various actors from ‘PS-1’ including that of Vikram. At that time his first look poster had received huge flak from the netizens for its poor and below grade editing work. Fans were utterly disappointed with the lack of professionalism for such an epic and grand project coming from an ace filmmaker like Mani Ratnam. Hoping to rectify the same the makers have now launched a new poster.

Vikram’s first look from ‘PS-1’ shows him as the Cholan crown prince Aditya Karikalan who was the commander of northern troops in Sundara Chola’s reign and was also the elder brother of Arulmozhivarman who later went on to become the great Chola emperor Raja Raja Chola. The subtle smile on Vikram’s face adds that charming grace to his war ready avatar while the battle field background seems to stand still in his magnetic presence.

Launching the first look poster of Vikram on social media Madras Talkies wrote,

“Welcome the Chola Crown Prince! The Fierce Warrior. The Wild Tiger. Aditya Karikalan!

#PS1 @LycaProductions #ManiRatnam”

Written, directed and co-produced by Mani Ratnam, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman who later became the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. The film is a tentpole project that has an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Lal, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, Kishore and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others.

Musical maestro A. R. Rahman will compose the music for the film. While Ravi Varman is handling the film’s cinematography, its editing is done by Sreekar Prasad. Allirajah Subaskaran via Lyca Productions is producing the magnum opus alongside Ratnam’s Madras Talkies. B. Jeyamohan has co-written the film.

Based on the eponymous 1955 novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, the first out of two parts, multi-starrer pan Indian film ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part One’ will release in cinemas on 30th September, 2022.
