The upcoming Tamil action thriller movie ‘Mahaan’ has been one of the most anticipated titles, more particularly for fans of acclaimed Indian actor Vikram. Karthik Subbaraj’s directorial gangster drama features (for the first time) the real-life father-son duo namely Vikram and Dhruv Vikram in the lead roles. As the streaming date of ‘Mahaan’ inches closer towards its release on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform on 10th February 2020, the makers have now revealed the film’s trailer at just the right time.
Mahaan’s trailer starts off with Vikram being portrayed as a simple commerce teacher Mahaan Gandhi under financial distress in the year 1996. He is suggested to lead his father’s liquor ban movement. However, in the subsequent reels, he is shown in a totally contrasting persona of a liquor brewer and the king of Tamil Nadu’s liquor empire who is living life on his own terms. Thereafter, his son Dhruv Vikram is introduced in an angry, action-packed avatar followed by Vikram’s apparent heart transformation.
The film’s underlying premise ostensibly revolves around a man’s journey from an ordinary teacher to an influential liquor baron. In the film, Vikram plays the titular role of Gandhi Mahaan and the goings-on take an interesting turn when the billionaire protagonist begins to miss the presence of his son (played by Dhruv Vikram) in his life. It is being said that the story focuses on how the son reforms his father. The movie also features Bobby Simha and Simran in important roles.
Veteran actor Vikram has an impressive body of work under his belt. The National Award-winning actor has delivered several fine performances that include the action-drama film ‘Pithamagan’, S. Shankar’s action thriller ‘Anniyan’, Mani Ratnam’s epic adventure film ‘Raavanan’, and the 2015 romantic thriller movie ‘I’, to name a few.
Vikram’s forthcoming acting projects include the action thriller film ‘Cobra’, Gautham Vasudev Menon’s directorial ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’, and the highly anticipated and ambitious Mani Ratnam’s historical fiction movie ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’.
‘Mahaan’ starring Vikram and Dhruv Vikram will release on Amazon Prime Video on 10th February in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam languages and in Kannada language bearing the title ‘Maha Purusha’.
