ZEE5 Tamil has come a long way in 2022. From standing in the sidelines and watching streaming giants Prime Video and Netflix get all the accolades in Tamil content, ZEE5 Tamil has finally embraced its potential.
The Tamil arm of homegrown giant ZEE5 has upped the ante in the first quarter of 2022. With two back to back hits in the Tamil web series space, ZEE5 Tamil has brought its A-game to the category. It’s now time for the OTT platform to stand up and be counted!
In February, ZEE5 Tamil released an astonishingly compelling crime drama, titled ‘Vilangu’. The 7-episode Tamil series earned rave reviews from critics, a lot of love from audiences, and impressive ratings on IMDb. The show currently stands at ‘Number One’ in IMDb’s list of ‘Top Tamil Web Series’. That’s a huge achievement by any standard. Those who’ve watched ‘Vilangu’ have heaped praise on it.
Vilangu is a crime thriller that stars Vemal in the lead role of a police inspector, who must investigate a series of confounding crimes and murders in small-town Vembur. The series has stunning twists and turns that come out of nowhere. Ineya, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth and R. N. R. Manohar star alongside Vemal in Vilangu. The series is directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj (of Bruce Lee fame).
After the superb success of Vilangu, ZEE5 Tamil has now followed it up with drama series, ‘Anantham‘. Directed by V. Priya, Anantham stars Prakash Raj, Sampath Raj, John Vijay, Arjunan, Mathew Varghese and Indraja. The series features a family home that witnesses numerous life stories of the people that live at different times in that home. Anantham is engaging and endearing, and it soothes your senses like a long-forgotten lullaby.
With these two Tamil shows, Vilangu and Anantham, ZEE5 Tamil has shown that it has what it takes to reach the top of the streaming game in Tamil OTT content.
Now all that ZEE5 Tamil has to do is to stay true and consistent in producing entertaining and quality Tamil content.
