Diehard fans of crime dramas usually rate HBO’s Emmy winning anthology series ‘True Detective’ as amongst the best shows around, especially the first season which featured Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the lead roles. For the unversed, ‘True Detective’ was created by a teacher turned television writer Nic Pizzolatto.
After writing and showrunning the cult series ‘True Detective’, its creator Nic Pizzolatto has finally found his first feature film which he will be writing and directing himself (reported via Deadline). It’s an indie drama titled ‘Easy’s Waltz’ starring Vince Vaughn, legendary actor Al Pacino, Michelle Monaghan, and Simon Rex.
‘Easy’s Waltz’ is expected to bear some kind of similarities with Doug Liman’s 1996 comedy drama film ‘Swingers’ and Bradley Cooper’s 2018 musical drama ‘A Star Is Born’.
The underlying story of the film will ostensibly revolve around a down-on-his-luck comedian who navigates modern Las Vegas with old-school Vegas personalities. Interestingly, as you can guess, the film’s genre and premise are totally unlike Nic Pizzolatto’s ‘True Detective’ series.
Besides creating ‘True Detective’ series, Nic Pizzolatto has also previously lent his writing skills for Antoine Fuqua’s star-studded western actioner ‘The Magnificent Seven’, multiple episodes of crime drama series ‘The Killing’, and more recently the Jake Gyllenhaal starrer thriller movie ‘Guilty’.
All three seasons of Nic Pizzolatto’s ‘True Detective’ series are currently streaming in India on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform. You can watch the show in case you still haven’t. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Nic Pizzolatto’s feature film directorial debut ‘Easy’s Waltz’.
