Vir Das’ latest standup special ‘Outside In’ is premiering on Netflix tomorrow. The standup routine has been highly anticipated as Vir Das created this while in lockdown – which means he could have some hilarious new material about the coronavirus pandemic as well as the Presidential election. Vir Das dropped a hilarious new promotional video, a few hours ago, which is around four minutes long but the actual promotion happens only during the last 15 seconds.
The promo video starts off with Vir Das calling up a friend of his and speaking to him via speaker (so that we can hear what his friend is saying). Vir tells his friend that tomorrow his Netflix special is dropping and his friend hilariously compares Vir’s special to the ongoing pandemic. Vir quickly changes the topic and asks him for ideas to create a new promotional video for his upcoming Netflix special (a “promo vid-ception”, if you will).
So his friend asks him to do what he normally does – flashy lights, upbeat music and graphics. But then Vir comes out and says that this special was done completely indoors – in one room, with just a single camera. His friend then hilariously remarks that Vir was like Brie Larson’s character from ‘Room’. His friend then asks him how the reviews for the Netflix special to which Vir replied were good (while showing us some of the reviews he received).
Vir goes on to explain how the show came about and what he does on the show to his friend, while they both riffed with each other. The video is light hearted fun and towards the end of the video, before hanging up, his friend tells him to keep it simple and don’t take it overboard. After a few seconds, Vir Das turns toward the camera and announces the drop of his upcoming special on Netflix tomorrow. And he ends it with an almost-awkward-but-just- managed-to-not-make-it-one thumbs-up.
Vir Das’ latest Netflix Special ‘Outside In’ will be released on Netflix tomorrow, on 16th December 2020. Watch the promotional video down below:
