The director plans to develop an Agatha Christie universe on streaming, but imbued with his own unique filmmaking style and sensibilities. Yes, quite like his Shakespearean universe on the big screen, with his innovative adaptations of Shakespeare’s Othello (Omkara), Hamlet (Haider) and Macbeth (Maqbool). Vishal Bhardwaj’s Agatha Christie universe will be adapted to include the unique milieu and cultural nuances of India.
Now, we have comprehensive details on Vishal Bhardwaj’s first Agatha Christie adaptation for OTT, which will also mark his OTT debut. The adaptation will be in the form of a series for Sony LIV, based on Agatha Christie’s acclaimed novel, ‘The Sittaford Mystery’. Titled ‘Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley’, the series will follow Charlie Chopra, in her quest to uncover a deep mystery in the backdrop of Solang Valley, amidst the mesmerising snow-capped mountains of Himachal Pradesh.
The series boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Wamiqa Gabbi, Priyanshu Painyuli, Naseeruddin Shah, Neena Gupta, Ratna Pathak Shah, Gulshan Grover, Lara Dutta, Chandan Roy Sanyal, and Paoli Dam amongst others. The series is written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Anjum Rajabali and Jyotsna Hariharan are co-writers on the show. Vishal Bhardwaj has also produced the series, under his banner Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures. Priti Shahani’s Tusk Tale Films are co-producers on ‘Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley’, in association with Agatha Christie Limited.
James Prichard, Basi Akpabio and Leo Dezoysa will act as Executive Producers on the show on behalf of Agatha Christie Limited.
