We, at Binged.com, had earlier informed our readers about Voot Select having a new series up its sleeve, called ‘Illegal’, which it plans to release by the end of April. In an apparent change of plans, Illegal will now release some time later this month. Voot Select has, meanwhile, revealed the first look of the new series, and it certainly has us intrigued.
Illegal is a thrilling drama, with the Indian judicial system at the core of the narrative. Much of the story unravels within the courtroom, as it is a courtroom drama with a difference. Not only does it take viewers through the suspense and thrill of new clues presenting themselves, and new mysteries opening up, but it also lays bare the truth of how legal eagles manipulate loopholes within the law to get one-up on convoluted cases.
Consummate actor-writer Piyush Mishra makes his digital debut with Illegal. Kubbra Sait, Neha Sharma, Akshay Oberoi, Parul Gulati, Satyadeep Mishra, Taher Shabbir Mithaiwala, Deepak Tijori, Aditi Tailang and Vicky Arora make up the rest of the cast. Most of the leading cast is playing lawyers, while Kubbra Sait plays the undertrial in the series.
Per the logline of ‘Illegal’ — “Two high profile cases, a battery of high-power legal eagles & the number one law firm of the country. A first of its kind intense, racy legal drama that questions whether all lawyers are mercenaries or can some resist the lure of greed, ambition and power; and fight to win defining judgements that hold the bar of justice high and restore faith in humanity?”
Voot Select shared the first look teaser of Illegal on social media, along with a caption that read,
“From a murder case to a legal one. Who’s excited for #IllegalOnVoot? #VootSelect
