Mythological crime thriller Asur is inarguably the most popular and blockbuster show in Voot Select‘s eclectic repertoire of web originals. The show, which had premiered in March 2020 on Voot Select, quickly became the favourite show of digital viewers. Fans have desperately been waiting for Asur Season 2 since long. Much to their delight, the Asur Season 2 has finally kicked off shoot last week, after prolonged, pandemic-induced delays.
Now, there’s news of Asur 2 expanding its cast for the new season. New characters will be introduced in Asur Season 2, for which fresh faces have been brought on board the show. One of the new additions to the show is actress Adithi Kalkunte, known for her roles in Hotel Mumbai, Krrish 3 and Special 26.
The other exciting addition to the cast of Asur 2 is that of actor Meiyang Chang, known for his roles in films such as Sultan, Badmash Company, Bharat, and web series such as Bombers and 1962: War In The Hills, among others. Both pieces of information were first shared by online publication, Iwmbuzz.
The new cast will join the primary cast of Asur, comprising Arshad Warsi, Barun Sobti, Ridhi Dogra, Anupriya Goenka and Sharib Hashmi. along with some new faces. Another major change in Asur 2 is that this new season of the show will be produced by Bombay Fables Motion Pictures. Asur Season 1 had been produced by Tanveer Bookwala’s Ding Entertainment. Onir Sen, who had also directed Asur Season 1, is directing Asur Season 2.
Asur is a crime thriller, set in the backdrop of mythology, along with the forensic sciences – a rare combination in the Indian content space. It became a runaway hit upon release; since then, everyone’s been waiting for Asur Season 2 with bated breath.
