In these pandemic-induced lockdown times, the implausible thought of watching a well-directed play might have crossed your mind. Seems to be a nostalgia-ridden but now a possible idea. Apparently, BookMyShow is giving us an opportunity to watch an interesting Hindi play on their streaming platform.
Titled ‘Cross Connection’, the play will have a runtime of 40 minutes. It’s a story about an honest person, who works in a small clothing shop and is caught on a railway station platform during the pandemic for the past six days. He is hungry and does not have any money to go back to his village, to his family.
The play purportedly portrays how the values of morality, principles, and honesty are somehow left behind when one is stuck in a hopeless situation and is struggling for survival.
The official synopsis of the play as stated in BookMyShow is: “Sometimes the wrong train can take you to the right station and in certain cases, a cross-connection can make for a lucrative situation! A story of two strangers, connected through a wrong number. One a thief planning a bank heist and another a migrant laborer in desperate need of funds. Throw in a policeman and a distant wife and watch the story twist!”
A creative joint venture presented by EnActe, Rage, and BookMyShow, the play ‘Cross Connection’ has been written by Yogesh Anant Utekar. While the directorial duties have been given to Shivani Tanksale.
Shivani Tanksale is an adept actress and an experienced theatre director. She has also been a part of a number of Bollywood films and television shows such as ‘Talaash’, ‘Inkaar’, Happy Ending’, and ‘24’ – to name a few.
Some of her earlier plays include ‘The President is Coming’, ‘All About Women’, ‘Abhi Na Jaao Chhod Kar’, ‘Namak Mirch’, and ‘A Funny Thing Called Love’, amongst others.
