As India is slowly recovering from the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, Warner Bros. has made plans to open theatres in the country early. Warner Bros. India announced their decision to release three of their films in Indian theatres over the next 15 days as an attempt to bring the audiences back to the cinema halls. This announcement was made from their official Twitter account a few hours ago, check it out at the end of this article.
‘Mortal Kombat‘, ‘The Suicide Squad’ and ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’ are the three films Warner Bros. are planning to release in India. While ‘The Suicide Squad’ is the only film out of the aforementioned three to not be premiered yet, the other two films have done decently well in the U.S. market with the original gaming and horror franchises having an avid fan following within the country, so it is a good move on the production company’s part. Well, it would have been good if the coronavirus situation of the country was better handled.
Multiple States in India are just coming out of lockdown, with various villages, cities and districts have been deemed as containment zones where people can’t move in, out or around their locality. Sure, there are signs of improvement, but not enough for theatres to be ready for opening within the next few days. And even if the release of these huge productions could entice people to come to theatres, the theatres will not open if the local government do not lift the lockdown of theatres – which is prevalent in the country.
‘Mortal Kombat’ will release in Indian theatres on 30th July, while ‘The Suicide Squad’ and ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’ will do the same on 5th August 2021 and 13th August 2021, respectively.
