The promotional campaign of Barbie has long been one of the best and grandest strategies we have seen. The posters, costumes, Barbie burgers, and so many things precisely make Barbie exceptionally successful.
Even in a country like India where Barbie is not a cultural icon, popular actresses are posing in Barbie dresses, e-commerce websites are launching a sale named “hot pink day sale” on July 21. Most probably they are not commissioned by Warner Bros to do this kind of stuff but they are somehow either promoting themselves in Barbie popularity or promoting Barbie through themselves.
So far everything has been flawless. But, not now.
If you know John Cena plays Kenmaid in Barbie. His photo was released just yesterday and he was doing his share of promotion.
During this promotion, he said that Barbie will launch a fiery debate. He went on to say,
“The audience will walk away with, like, a mixed bag of opinions, which I think is the greatest form of entertainment.”
Well, we doubt if John Cena meant any harm through this statement but this statement can actually harm the film in many ways. Because no film wants a mixed bag of opinions, they want good and good opinions only.
But John Cena’s interview has been taken down by Warner Bros.
Have a look. This is what the YouTube video of John Cena’s interview looks like now. John Cena’s statement finally brought a flaw in the perfect Barbie promotional campaign.
