Rishab Shetty is a well known figure in Kannada cinema also known as Sandalwood. The Kirik Party director has had a fair share of huge successful ventures in his career and with his latest lockdown project ‘Hero’ he aims to replicate the same. Talking about ‘Hero’, the makers released an official trailer for the movie on Sankranti in January and it grabbed everyone’s attention. But since no release date was mentioned then and nothing has been revealed regarding that as of now, was it a ploy to attract the attention of the OTT platforms? Let’s discuss that.
Since the start of the OTT boom, platforms are eyeing innovative and regional content and Rishab Shetty’s ‘Hero’ fits all the criteria. For those of who don’t know, ‘Hero’ was shot entirely in the lockdown and despite the limitations on shooting, the makers decided to make it different from all the other “lockdown shows” and content. And hence they decided to make a short film of around 90 minutes just to be connected with their beloved profession.
Hero’ is directed by M Bharath Raj and stars Rishab Shetty along with Ganavi Lakshman, Pramod Shetty and Manjunath Gowda.
‘Hero’ was originally conceived as an short film and the plan was to release it on YouTube or OTT platform. But since, the theatres started to function again, the makers decided to wait a little to see how things pan out. And it seems that when they completed the movie, they released an official trailer which is honestly gripping and entertaining.
The trailer follows Rishab Shetty’s character which is of a hairstylist who is called on a ruthless Don’s lair. There it is revealed that the Don is physically abusing his wife and her and the hairstylist actually have an affair going on. The Don finds out the two romancing and decides to take revenge on them. The movie is filled with how both the lovers escape from the creepy lair of the villain which is deep into the forest.
It seems that the trailer was a genuine ploy by the makers to create excitement towards their movie which they made with lots of struggle and hardwork. Since the trailer didn’t reveal a release date, the above theory can be very well established. But nothing has been officially announced by the makers as well as any of the OTT platforms.
Rishab Shetty on his Twitter handle did post an announcement regarding the movie that they’ll announce something related to the movie on 11th February 2021. Most probably it will be about the release of the movie. It will be interesting to see if the movie will arrive theatrically or is bagged by an OTT platform for direct digital release.
