In the beginning, they rob an armoured car filled with $1.6 million in bearer bonds. All seems to go well for the gang until Waingro panics and kills a guard. The situation escalates when McCauley and Cheritto kill other guards to protect themselves. McCauley tries finishing off Waingro, but the latter escapes somehow.
A prominent LAPD detective, Vincent Hanna (Pacino), gets assigned to the robbery case. He tries hard to catch McCauley and the rest of his gang. Heat is undoubtedly one of the best movies of Michael Mann’s legendary feature directional career. And the iconic duo of Robert De Niro and Al Pacino makes our watching experience memorable. The scene in which they exchange words during the film’s final moments gives goosebumps. Both legends deliver masterful performances. And the supporting cast does a tremendous job too. As for Mann’s direction, the guy nails it completely. His direction looks sleek and controlled. Plus, he takes full advantage of his leading duo. The film’s rich characterisations often make us forget who is the bad guy. Truly an intelligent and outstanding piece of cinema!
