Superbad (2007), starring Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, is undoubtedly one of the best products to come out of Judd Apatow’s production company, The Apatow Company. The filmmaker is also known for helming and producing outstanding comedy flicks, such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Knocked Up (2007), Funny People (2009), Trainwreck (2015), The King of Staten Island (2020), and more. But Superbad is one of his most underrated productions, now available on Netflix.
Helmed by Greg Mottola, Superbad revolves around the duo of Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera), two teenagers who try really hard to party and lose their virginity before completing their graduation. However, their mission is accompanied by several hilarious misadventures, complicating things for them.
The thing that stands out the most in Superbad is its comedy. Fueled by epic one-liners, the film is also popular for its witty humour. In addition, the chemistry between Cera and Hill looks amazing. Moreover, the film takes place in the early 2000s and reflects many cultural references of that time, functioning as a pretty good nostalgic ride for many viewers. Overall, Superbad is a complete laugh riot!
Superbad stands at a ‘fresh’ Rotten Tomatoes score of 87%, based on over 200 reviews by critics. Apart from Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, it stars Bill Hader, Seth Rogen, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Emma Stone, Dave Franco, and many more talents. Stream it now on Netflix. Enjoy!
