As most of the OTT platforms are going through a dry phase, we always have something to look back to, we always have something to visit back to. And there comes one of the finest Iranian Films that has entertained the viewers for years, The Salesman by Asghar Farhadi holds a special place in the hearts of cinephiles.
Even though the name suggests it is loosely based on Arthur Miller’s Death Of A Salesman, Farhadi’s version is realistic, aesthetic, and revengeful at the same time.
“The Salesman” follows Emad and Rana, a couple in Tehran, whose lives take a dramatic turn when they move into a new apartment with a mysterious past. As they grapple with the aftermath of a traumatic incident involving the previous tenant, the couple finds their relationship tested.
Against the backdrop of preparing for a stage production of “Death of a Salesman,” the film intricately weaves suspense and emotion, exploring the complexities of morality, revenge, and the consequences of secrets.
The film will be a good introduction to the Iranian Film world and ticks all the right boxes as it enlightens the minimalist approach of the industry. Besides the brilliance on camera, the actors flawlessly played their part, someone like Shahab Hosseini will win over your heart with the brilliance on the screen.
And the dialogues are enough to melt your heart as The Salesman does come out as a perfect piece of art and that too with everything right portion.
