Brad Pitt has starred in numerous outstanding flicks. From making a sensational Hollywood debut as a handsome cowboy hitchhiker in Ridley Scott’s Thelma & Louise (1991) to playing a big-hearted but troubled film star, Jack Conrad, in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon (2022), Pitt has done many amazing things. He is set to star in Jon Watts’ Wolves and an untitled Joseph Krasinski project. The man has delivered numerous blockbusters in his illustrious film career. And those big flicks often overshadow his ‘not so popular’ movies. One of his most underrated films is Seven Years in Tibet (1997).
Seven Years in Tibet covers the true story of Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer (Pitt). During the Second World War, he escaped from a British internment camp and entered Tibet. There, he forged a friendship with the young Dalai Lama (played by Jamyang Jamtsho Wangchuk). The Chinese invasion of Tibet changed him completely from the inside. He learned how to embrace the region’s culture and spirituality.
Brad Pitt does a brilliant job of portraying Harrier’s spiritual transformation in the film. In addition, the movie treasures a beautiful cinematographical work from Robert Fraisse. The film also manages to capture Tibet’s customs and culture. John Williams’ epic score bestows more depth to the film’s emotional impact.
Overall, Brad Pitt’s Seven Years in Tibet works fine. Apart from the leading man, the film stars David Thewlis, Mako, BD Wong, Jamyang Jamtsho Wangchuk, Jetsun Pema, and more. It is available on Netflix. Stream it now!
