The United States of America has its 47th president in the house now, and Hollywood has never really been a fan of him. Donald Trump is definitely a figure that has been controversial, so what does it mean for the industry? David Zsalav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, has his thoughts on the matter, and it’s a rather positive outlook.
Political opinions aside, Hollywood seems to keep itself detached from Trump anyway. However, if we take the trends into account, many of the A listers were in support of Kamala Harris. Whether it be the figureheads of the music industry like Rihanna, Lady Gaga Beyonce Eminem and Taylor Swift, or the acting legends like Harrison Ford, Leonardo DiCaprio, and the cast of Avengers.
The Trump support margin could be guessed by the biopic, which was released not long ago. Starring Sebastian Stan-The Apprentice was nothing less than controversial. Despite all of this, David Zaslav has a different opinion. He mentioned, “It may be too early to tell, but it may offer a change of pace and an opportunity for consolidation that may be quite different. That would provide a real positive and accelerated impact on this industry that’s needed.”
Basically, a second run for Trump will deregulate the industry further, making it easier to make deals and thus liberalizing the industry for meregers and sales. Overall, the expected impact of the change of administration will definitely take hold in some time. However, it is to be seen how accepting the industry will be toward the oncoming change.
