The OTT platforms are now investing more in the global expansion and America is suffering the decentralization fate. Netflix has already invested in German slate, a British slate and a few days ago, Nordic slate. So now, Warner Bros. Discovery is now plan to dive into French content.
To give you a basic context, WBD will soon release their services in France and thus, they are treating the global audience with a new french slate which is essentially a new beginning for the platform and it will give some major exposure to the country as well.
Max, the streaming platform under Warner Bros. Discovery, is set to offer a diverse range of original content tailored to French audiences. Among its upcoming series is “Malditos” (working title), an action-packed crime thriller depicting the struggles of a Gypsy community leader and her sons as they fight to save their clan from eviction due to rising waters in Southern France.
Produced by White Lion Films and directed by Jean Charles Hue and Cécilia Verheyden, the series promises gripping suspense against the backdrop of an impending crisis.
Additionally, Max plans to adapt Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur’s best selling autobiographical book, Living with our dead. This drama-comedy series explores the life of one of France’s rare female rabbis, blending elements of humor and drama to portray her journey.
Produced by Fédération Studios and penned by Noé Debré and Benjamin Charbit, the show aims to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative and nuanced characters.
Among Max’s other ventures, “Black Lies” is a psychological thriller based on the true story of a woman who deceitfully infiltrated a victims’ association, becoming integral to its operations. Starring Laure Calamy and directed by Just Philippot, the series promises a riveting exploration of deception and manipulation.
For the Indian audience, most of this content will stream on JioCinema, while some might even appear on Prime Video, but nothing is known until now. Will Max ever try to infiltrate the Indian market? It’s highly competitive, and for them, it will definitely be a challenging task to understand, but in the near future, there lies a possibility.
