For the past couple of days Zee5 has been running a promotional campaign for one of its upcoming project and is asking everyone about “Rautu Ka Raaz” but no one seems to have a clue.
It became more clear today when Zee5 brought Nawazuddin Siddiqui on board for the same trend. In the video Nawazuddin is moving towards his car as the paparazzi is chasing him and asking what’s the secret of Rautu. While he accepts knowing the secret, he doesn’t reveal it and says that it will be out soon on Zee5.
After a successful run of ‘Haddi’, Zee5 has teased the audience with another Nawazuddin Siddiqui project today. And when an actor of his calibre is involved the excitement and curiosity is bound to be there.
And while Zee5’s trying to create an aura of mystery around it all, we know what “Rautu Ka Raaz” is!
It’s a Nawazuddin Siddiqui film titled ‘Rautu ki Beli’ that premiered last year at the International Film Festival of India. The film stars Siddiqui, Rajesh Kumar, Narayani Shastri, and Atul Tiwari.
‘Rautu ki Beli’ is about an eponymous idyllic town in hilly north India that has been virtually crime-free for over 30 years. The inhabitants are bewildered when a school warden is found dead and the police begin investigating – under the leadership of Inspector Negi. Nothing is as easy as it seems when societal stigma, small-town laziness and ‘locals in denial’ get in the way of a seemingly straightforward case.
‘Rautu ki Beli’ is directed by Anand Surapur who is best known for being a part of Bajaj Auto’s ad campaign ‘Humara Bajaj’, Anand Surapur is an Indian ad director, producer, and movie director. After working directing several ad films, Anand set up his own company, calling it Phat Phish Productions under which he directed ads for brands like Dominos, Surf, and Thums Up. He also directed the music videos for Bombay Vikings’ song ‘Kya Soorat Hai’ and Bally Sagoo’s ‘Noorie’ under his banner.
While directing ads and music videos, Anand also produced movies like the National Film Award-winning movie Frozen in 2007, and the 2009 action drama Quick Gun Murugun. Making his directorial debut, Anand was associated with the Farhan Akhtar and Annu Kapoor-starrer drama The Fakir of Venice, which he also produced, in 2019.
