Netflix has released the trailer of Wedding Season. We all know that getting married is one of the most prominent goals in the Indian community. It crosses the boundary of India and even carries forward with the Indian diaspora.
Regardless, Netflix has realised this thing and is coming up with a film which tells the story of an Indian family which is determined to get their children married.
Asha played by Pallavi Sharda is a working woman who is doing good in her life but yet again her mother has only one goal. It is to get her married to a well-settled Indian boy.
The boy Ravi, played by Suraj Sharma is a non-working man who is also happy with his life. He is totally opposite to Asha. But the only thing he has in common with Asha is the parental pressure of getting married.
They pretend to be dating each other so that their parents don’t bother them during the wedding season.
It is not an Indian film but rather a western film revolving around Indian origin characters.
But think about that, are Indians all about curry, weddings, gossiping aunties and impulsive parents?
We believe that the Indian community is much more than that even outside India. There must be a thousand better stories than the already stereotyped one which Netflix picked.
Regardless, the film releases on August 4.
