Netflix’s Wednesday series was mostly received positively among critics and viewers upon its debut. The majority of the praise was directed towards the performances, plot twists, and the show’s ability to balance comedic and horror elements. Jenna Ortega, obviously, became a global sensation after her mesmerising and flawless (and a bit spooky) take on the titular character. But there was one more character who was just as important to the show as Ortega’s Wednesday was. We are talking about Enid, played by Emma Myers.
Jenna Ortega has revealed that Wednesday Season 2 will have a darker and more serious tone than the first season. This scenario definitely raises the stakes for the protagonist. But it may also become a golden opportunity for Enid to show her true worth.
Apart from her acting duties, Ortega will also serve as a producer for Season 2. And she has guaranteed that the sophomore season will be less fluffier than the previous entry. However, it may perfectly complement Enid’s persona. Myers’ character is just the complete opposite of Wednesday, a scenario which makes her friendship with Wednesday so unique and amazing. Enid’s personality is as bright as a burst of sunshine, whereas Wednesday likes to stay in the shadows of her dark and pessimistic personality. The only thing in common between them is that they are both considered outcasts at Nevermore Academy.
The sweet and sour friendship of Enid and Wednesday was one of the brightest points of Season 1. And the next season will profoundly depend upon their bond as well. Enid’s vibrant persona will level Season 2’s dark and horror storylines. Despite all the visible differences between them, both girls encourage each other to stay true to themselves. And that’s what makes their friendship so great.
Wednesday Season 2 will arrive on Netflix in late 2024 or early 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
