Released in 1957, this Hindu mythological movie is in the Telugu language and is written and directed by K.V. Reddy. The film is based on the chapter ‘Sasirekha Parinayam’ (Eng. Marriage of Sasirekha) from the epic Mahabharata. Nagi Reddi and Chakrapani produced this film for Vijaya Productions. The movie features an ensemble cast including actors N.T Rama Rao (NTR), Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Gemini Ganesan, Savitri, and S.V. Ranga Rao. The performances by NTR and Savitri, as well as the cinematography by Marcus Bartley, were brilliant and contributed to the film’s popularity. 2. Shri Krishna Leela (Eng. The playful acts of Shri Krishna)
Released in 1971, this Hindi language mythological movie was directed and produced by Homi Wadia for Basant Pictures. It is written by Bharat Vyas based on a story by S.N. Tripathi. Actor Sachin Pilgaonkar plays the central character and delivers a compelling performance. The cinematography was handled by Anant Wadedakar and the editing by Shaikh Ismail. 3. Oh My God! (OMG!)
Released in 2012, this movie is based on the satirical short story Kanji Virrudh Kanji (Eng. The man who sued God), directed by Umesh Shukla and written by Saumya Joshi and Bhavesh Mandalia. The movie is produced by Akshay Kumar, B.K. Modi, and Vikram Malhotra for Viacom18 Motion Pictures. It features actors Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, and Mithun Chakraborty in pivotal roles. 4. Kartikeya 2
Released in 2022, this movie is based on the post-Dwaraka demolition and its follow-up, which is based on Dwapara Yugam (Eng. The era of Dwapara). Directed by Chandoo Mondeti and written by Manibabu Karanam, the film gained popularity due to its unique storytelling pattern. It is produced by Zee Studios and received accolades, including the National Award for the best Telugu Feature film in 2023. This movie is available for streaming on Zee5, which holds its OTT rights.
